Tracy Beckley joined the Office of Admission in 2013 as the office’s first regional representative. A Michigan native who grew up in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, Tracy now calls Batavia, IL (a western suburb of Chicago) home. She received her A.B. in Communications from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, her MSIR in Human Resources from Loyola University in Chicago, and a Certificate in Independent Educational Consulting from the University of California Irvine Extension. Before joining the Office of Admission at K, Tracy worked as an independent educational consultant, helping students find colleges that were a good fit for them. In that capacity, she had the opportunity to tour a number of college and university campuses, research schools, and get to know many wonderful students and families. A mother of two teenagers, Tracy loves to read, is involved in her community, and has a very devoted dog named Eli.
Favorite college memory: “Staying up late talking and laughing hysterically with my roomies.”
What makes Kalamazoo College Zoonique? “The wonderful stories the students have about the experiential components of their education. I love listening to the students talk about their research, externships, internships, and international experiences. The stories about living abroad are often particularly exciting.”
Advice for prospective students: “Take some time to think through what type of educational environment will really challenge and support you to become a better student, person, and community member. Oh… and when visiting a campus, be sure to eat in the cafeteria!”
