Provost Michael A. “Mickey” McDonald, Ph.D.
Michael A. (Mickey) McDonald serves as the Provost. In this position he serves as the College’s chief academic officer with oversight of all educational affairs and activities, including academic personnel and programs. He also has oversight of academic administrative areas including athletics, career and professional development, information services (information technology, library, and media services), institutional assessment and faculty grants, international programs, registrar, civic engagement, the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership, health professions advising, graduate fellowships advising, and co-oversight of academic advising/first-year experience.

Prior to joining Kalamazoo College in July 2008, McDonald was Professor of Mathematics at Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA. He also served in a variety of administrative posts at Occidental College, including interim Dean of Students, Deputy to the President, and Associate Dean for Curriculum and Academic Affairs.
McDonald earned a Ph.D. degree in mathematics from Duke University and a B.S. degree in mathematics from Davidson College in North Carolina.
